In the middle of the village of Brettnach stands this imposing house with its atypical layout.
It is the tithe house, whose function was to collect and store taxes (tithe=10%)
At that time, the farmers paid the tax in kind. For Brettnach this tithe was shared for a third to
abbey of Mouzon and two thirds to the abbey of Bouzonville. Moreover, in the asymmetrical plan of this building, one could easily see this proportion of 1/3 - 2/3
