Chapel of the trinity
ALZING
In 1737 a small oratory was built and dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The statues of St Nicholas and St Eloi were stolen in 1974. This chapel was built by the Carthusian monks of Rettel for their convenience when they came to visit their properties, in particular at the Ehlig and Oligmühle mills, over which they alone had crimes, while the rest of Alzing belonged to the abbey of Bouzonville for the middle and lower justice and to the seigneury of Bérus for the high justice. During the war from 1939 to 1945 the mill and the chapel were badly damaged and the chapel was only saved in 1960 by a railway worker who restored it with volunteers. The miracle happened again in 1990 and the chapel was again restored by volunteers.
The stained glass windows were made in 1954 by young people from the village and were later restored by a glass artist from Wallerfangen.
