SENTIER DÉCOUVERTE AU FIL DE L'EAU
RETTEL
On this route you will discover the Carthusian monastery, formerly a convent of Benedictines, then of Benedictine nuns, which depended on the diocese of Trier, and the church of St. Lawrence of Rettel, rebuilt after the Second World War. Inside the church you can admire beautiful stained glass windows and a beautiful stone Stations of the Cross. Afterwards, you will go to the banks of the Moselle, a beautiful river which was canalized in 1964 and thus officially opened to navigation.
Afterwards, you will go to the ponds, a peaceful and quiet place where you will be able to admire on the one hand the cargo and pleasure boats, as well as the numerous swans and mallards on the water. On the other side, you will see all the flora that borders the ponds (water lilies, rushes, reeds etc.). On the way back, you will pass the Nouviaire castle, where you will be able to contemplate the beautiful cast-iron plaques on the façade.
